Jonas Koetter is from Bonn,
Germany. Having graduated from university in the past summer he has now joined
the community for six months. He was part of Sarnelli House before in 2005/06
after getting his high school diploma from a Redemptorist school in his home
town.
Jonas has been concerned with
issues of migration, concepts of cultural identities and integration of people
in society in his law and geographical studies. Through this search he has rediscovered
a more profound faith and it’s uniting power as an ultimate answer to many
questions of society.
Having spent some time at a
Benedictine monastery after getting his degree and visiting the Blessed
Sarnelli Community he decided to commit anew to this life to discern his
vocation.
“I am grateful to be able to
live this simple community life of service, prayer and study. My hope is to get
a sense of my direction in life and the kind of lifestyle and work I want to
commit myself to. I am thankful for getting so many insights through the people
we meet and through volunteering at the New Sanctuary Movement (my offsite ministry) which gives a
voice to Philadelphia’s immigrants.”
